Standard thermal CD-R is recommended for use with the Rimage Prism, Inscripta, and Aurora thermal printers. These printers typically employ a single color, thermal activated printer ribbon, that prints directly to the top surface of the disc. Standard thermal media can also be labeled with a non destructive inking pen such as a "sharpie", with custom printed paper labels, or via custom silk-screen, digital, or offset printing.
